Wayne is excited to have joined the firm in 2008 after finishing his six years as the Mayor of the City of Grande Prairie. Since being admitted to the Alberta Bar in 1981, Wayne has been providing clients with legal services in the areas of Corporate/Commercial Law, Wills and Estates, Real Estate and Civil Litigation. His nine years on City Council has given him a unique perspective in dealing with municipalities and development issues.

 

 


 

Community Memberships and Involvement

When not practicing law, Wayne is active in the community. He is a Board Member on both the Alberta Sport and Recreation Foundation and the Grande Prairie and District Chamber of Commerce, Chair of the Commuter Air Access Network of Alberta, Co-creator of the Opening and Closing Ceremonies for the 2010 Arctic Winter Games, one of the founders of the Grande Prairie Storm Junior A Hockey Club, and founder of the Grande Prairie International Street Performers Festival. Additionally, Wayne has refereed basketball for 30 years and has helped create new community groups at the local and provincial levels, has helped to develop the Grande Prairie Community Social Housing Plan, produced and directed the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the 1995 Canada Winter Games and the 2000 Alberta Summer Games, and has worked as a volunteer for many groups including the 1989 World Junior Men's Basketball Championships.

In 2003, the Premier's Council on the Status of Disabled Persons made Wayne the first recipient of the Gary McPherson Award of Excellence in recognition of his outstanding leadership in making positive, progressive, and sustained change; leading to the full inclusion of persons with disabilities.

In 2004, Wayne was the recipient of the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association's Award of Excellence for his outstanding civic leadership.

Wayne is happily married with two children.
