The Child Support Recalculation Program PDF Print

Child Support Recalculation Program scheduled to begin operating in January 2010.

The Child Support Recalculation Program is an administrative program that will annually recalculate child support in eligible court orders based on current income tax information.  A key feature is that there is no need for the court to order recalculation to participate in this initiative.  This means that many parties with existing child support orders will be eligible for registration with Child Support Recalculation Program, without the need to first return to Court to ask for a "recalculation clause" in their order.

While we are very excited to see the Province provide this much needed program to assist families calculate thier annual Child Support obligations, not all court orders will be eligible for the Child Support Recalculation Program.  Some cases are too complex or discretionary for this administrative program and require handling by the court.  Information about which cases are too complicated for this program can be found on the Recalculation Program's website at www.recalculation.gov.ab.ca.

Please feel free to contact us if you have questions or need assistance in this, or any other family law matter.
